Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
The neonatal intensive care unit also known as NICU is a specialised healthcare nursery for newborns who require intensive medical care & treatment. The NICUs are equipped with cutting-edge equipment, advanced organ support system, CRRT, ECMO services & skilled medical staff to provide specialised treatment for the newborns. Infants that require intensive care do better when born in a facility with a NICU than when they are transferred after birth.
Rainbow Children's Hospitals has one of the largest and the most advanced tertiary care, NICUs with an attached perinatal centre including fetal medicine and high-risk obstetrics care under one roof. NICU at Rainbow is the first to establish Advanced Neonatal Transport Service in India. NICUs have the highest level of neonatal care with round-the-clock availability of Neonatologists, Respiratory Therapists, Lactation Consultants & Nurses who ensure undivided attention is given to critically ill newborns & preterm babies. With decades of experience and success in treating babies, our expertise lies in treating preterm babies, low birth weight babies & neonates with respiratory problems.
Rainbow has successfully treated largest series of ELBW babies (<1 kg birth weight) and has the best survival rate in the country in saving small babies. The smallest baby saved by the NICU team at Rainbow was with birth weight of 375gm. This case has received the Limca Record of smallest baby survived in South Asia. The team has also successfully saved a 22-week preterm baby with birth weight of 450gm. Our hospital has achieved a place in Guinness Book of World Records for largest gathering of people born prematurely.
Rainbow’s Mothers' Milk Bank ensures that preterm babies born at Rainbow get only Human Milk. Newborns also have access to our special Kangaroo Mother Care Services to help develop an emotional bond between the mother and child and this makes our birth care family centric.
