Minimally Invasive Surgery
Minimally Invasive Surgery
Minimally invasive surgery is a type of gynecologic surgery that involves smaller incisions and shorter recovery time for patients with conditions such as endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, and others. Sometimes a minimally invasive procedure can bypass the need for a hysterectomy. A minimally invasive surgery has been shown to improve outcomes and reduce discomfort, inconvenience and expense.
Gynecologists at BirthRight, Rainbow Hospitals are trained in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and specialize in evaluating and treating people who have a wide range of noncancerous (benign) gynecologic conditions, including heavy menstrual periods (menorrhagia), irregular menstrual periods (metrorrhagia), pelvic pain, endometriosis and ovarian cysts.
We always try to provide the safest and most effective care to our patients. A vast majority of procedures performed at BirthRight by Rainbow Hospitals make use of safer alternatives to conventional open surgery via hysteroscopy or laparoscopy. Our experts can work on complicated cases that would otherwise require large abdominal incisions. Furthermore, by performing minimally invasive procedures, we ensure less pain, faster recovery, smaller incisions, shorter stay at the hospital and early rehabilitation to daily activities.
Some of the major minimally invasive surgical techniques we perform include:
- Hysterectomy
- Endometriosis excision surgery
- Hysteroscopy
- Complex laparoscopic procedures
- Vaginal surgery
