Dr Sanjay Deshpande is a Paediatric Infectious Disease Specialist at Rainbow Children's Hospital.

He did his MBBS in Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar and Diploma in Child Health in Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health, Bengaluru, Karnataka. He then completed Diplomate of National Board in Paediatrics at Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai.

Subsequently, he undertook a PID fellowship under the aegis of Indian Academy of Paediatrics in the reputed Quaternary Children’s hospital Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital, Chennai.

His extensive training includes management of a variety of Infectious Diseases in children with TB, Dengue, Typhoid, ICU infections, skin, muscle and bone infections etc. His expertise lies in management of difficult infections, prolonged fever syndromes and management of resistant infections and antibiotic stewardship in the ICU setting.

In 2020, he received an invitation by the Government of UK (NHS) to participate in the Paediatric COVID 19 vaccine trials at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, Bristol, UK.

During his time in the UK, he undertook two further fellowships in Paediatric Infectious Diseases and transplant ID at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and the world-renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), London.

His overseas experience includes management of children with congenital immunodeficiency, immunosuppression post bone marrow transplant, haematological or solid organ malignancy and complicated COVID 19 infections.

He has several publications in national and international journals and is a board review member for PID journals- Paediatric Infectious Diseases Journal, Paediatric Infectious Disease, Karnataka Paediatric Journal etc.
